The ETI commissioned the HEMS & ICT Market project to undertake an in depth study and assessment of HEMS along with data, processes and controls and potential additional services enabled via a linked ICT system. The project delivers key insights and findings in terms of potential future offerings and capabilities of these products along with market assessment information. The aim of the project was to characterise the existing market for HEMS and ICT systems and to quantify the market/commercial opportunities for future HEMS and ICT propositions for both consumer and business. Our main report identified an opportunity for the ETI to lead the Advanced ESCo scenario through 3 key business propositions:
- ESCOs 'right-size' heating solutions then provide supply contracts with price guarantees
- HEMS enable optimised ToU tariffs and DR benefits via localstorage

Each data set is provided under specific license terms please check the terms and conditions for each data set before you use it.
Please note that this is not an operational service. This site is run by research staff with the primary aim of improving collaboration with fellow researchers. Everyone is welcome to use the site, and we aim to make it reliable, but it does not have the same level of support as the main Met Office website.

To complement its existing analysis of the bioenergy sector, the ETI wanted to find out more about current public opinion of bioenergy in the UK and the potential drivers behind those opinions. To do this the ETI developed a survey which was carried out by YouGov in 2015. An extended version of the survey was repeated in 2016.
This workbook contains the results of a survey on public perceptions of bioenergy carried out by YouGov for the ETI from 21st – 24th August 2015. The total sample size was 3,105 GB (Great Britain) adults and the figures in this document have been weighted and are representative of all GB adults (aged 18+). The survey found that there is strong public support for producing bioenergy in the UK from both biomass and waste, with 80% of respondents in favour of bioenergy playing a bigger part in the UK energy mix. Readers should note that any percentages calculated based on fewer than 50 respondents do not represent a wide enough cross-section of the target population to be considered statistically reliable. The questionnaire was developed by the ETI and reviewed by specialists in social science research.

UK Government has collected and compiled estimates of electricity consumption at regional (NUTS1) and local authority levels (LAU1 - formally NUTS 4) using aggregated Meter Point Reference Number (MPRN) readings throughout Great Britain as part of government's annual meter point electricity data exercise. In March 2008, this electricity consumption dataset gained National Statistics status. This status applies to all data from 2005 onwards. The 2003 and 2004 data are still classed as experimental.

Annual energy projections, analyzing and projecting future energy use and greenhouse gas emissions in the UK to assist in monitoring progress towards meeting carbon budgets for the UK and to inform energy policy and associated analytical work across government departments. The projections are based on assumptions of future economic growth, fossil fuel prices, electricity generation costs, UK population and other key variables regularly updated. The NAEI compiles estimates of emissions to the atmosphere from UK sources such as cars, trucks, power stations and industrial plant. The NAEI estimates annual pollutant emissions from 1970 to the most current publication year for the majority of pollutants. A number of pollutants are estimated from 1990 or 2000 to the most current publication year due to the lack of adequate data prior to the later date and the specific reporting requirements for each pollutant. To deliver these estimates, the NAEI team collect and analyse information from a wide range of sources from national energy statistics through to data collected from individual industrial plants.

UNSD maintains the Energy Statistics Database, which provides annual statistics on production, trade, transformation and consumption (end-use) for solid, liquid, and gaseous fuels, electricity, and heat. It contains basic statistics for more than 230 countries/territories from 1950 year onwards and is updated annually. The tool was used to create and evaluate upgrade pathways for a small number of housing archetypes informed by detailed information gathered from dwelling participating in the recent Home Energy Management System trial. The results are given in this spreadsheet.
