Objectives
Ceres Power is driving towards the commercialisation of a novel solid oxide fuel cell technology, based upon the use of steel substrates, which operates in the 500-600ÃÆÃââââ¬Ã
¡ÃÆââ¬Å¡ÃâðC temperature range. This approach differs to all other SOFC developers, and provides significant advantages in the target markets of small-scale CHP, vehicle APUs and remote power generation. Ceres Power and British Gas have recently announced their intention to jointly explore the development of a fuel cell powered micro-CHP unit for residential applications, and this project forms a core part of the prototype development phase of this activity. In this project Ceres and British Gas will together work with a range of UK suppliers, to design, build and evaluate the first prototype fuel cell micro-CHP unit for UK residential applications, operating on pipeline natural gas.
