| Objectives | By undertaking a number of networking activities, UDESMO aims to generate insights on how, to what degree and with what consequences urban development, the impacts of policies to promote EVs and energy infrastructure development influence and shape each other. These insights will be synthesised to develop a research agenda on how regional and urban planning disciplines and practice may facilitate transition to electric mobility for a smart energy system. As a result, UDESMO network will lead to cross-fertilisation of research ideas, better understanding of different research methods across these disciplines and promote interdisciplinarity via adopting a socio-technical systems framework.The objectives of the network are as follows:i) To facilitate shared knowledge and understanding of EV promotion and urban development policy frameworks and their impacts on energy networks in the UK and KRii) Synthesise network findings to develop a list of research agendas on how regional science and urban planning discipline and practice can support transition to electric mobility for a smart energy system. | |
| Abstract | Transition to electric mobility will have significant impacts on energy infrastructure planning and operations. On the other hand, urban development plays a crucial role in determining where the need may arise for electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. Yet to date, the interaction and dependency of energy infrastructure and urban development, alongside the impacts of EV policies are not explored. The aim of this network is to address this knowledge gap and the lack of connectivity and level of engagement between the UK and KR researchers through networking activities across the following disciplines: energy systems modelling, regional science, urban planning, electric mobility, energy justice and energy economics. The network's expertise is complemented further by the collaboration with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas on public policy | |
