Abstract
The allocation of resources between the harvested product of oilseed rape, its seeds, and biomass co-product, straw, influences yield. We are taking a comparative QTL approach to understand the genetic control of canopy architecture in oilseed rape. This involves combining genetic and genomic information with precise phenotyping of canopy architecture traits in both oilseed rape (Brassica napus) and Arabidopsis thaliana. The work exploits Recombinant Inbred populations of A. thaliana and Doubled Haploid mapping populations of oilseed rape, and provides a platform for associated uplift activities.
