Grant funding, in addition to private investment, is required to take the project from the current, patented small scale “proof of concept” stage, to the point when a pre-production design can be licensed, achieving a biomass fuel burn of 90% by energy in a gas turbine, whilst meeting current emissions legislation. Whilst the development programme will be based on clean wood fuel, a wider range of biofuels will be tested. The project objective is to demonstrate theviability of low capital and operating cost wood fuelled CHP, for an output range of between 250kWe and 1MWe. The R&D will establish operating parameters for the gas turbine, combustion, feed system and the control technology required for a realistic range of wood fuel type, size and moisture content.
