Abstract
The Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions (DETR) commissioned various contractors to review the Exemption Orders (EOs) made under the Radioactive Substances Act (RSA). The results of these reviews were condensed into a single overview document by the contractor, AEA Technology and commented on by the various contractors and representatives of DETR. The document discusses the limitations of the existing EOs, considers options for revision and makes proposals for a new overallscheme of Orders to address current and future needs. However, it does not provide Government proposals for the content of the revised set of Orders
