Objectives Initiating research project and writing of scientific joint documents with China.
Abstract Organization of a number of trips and workshops with Chinese partners in Beijing. Apart from general nuclear engineering, China has some very interesting projects in the HLW and geological repository which have been very well funded by the Chinese government, and they were willing to collaborate with UK, even if the UK provided a much smaller portion of funding, by sponsoring some of UK's connections and specialists. This was because they value the UK's research capabilities and some of the work done during the past. The workshops mentioned were in the areas of nuclear waste management, decommissioning and geological repository of the HLW/SP, and were organised in Beijing with joint UK-Chinese researchers in the area.
