Collaborating with the Digital Research Infrastructure

Data Infrastructure for National Infrastructure (DINI)

This project was led by the Data Analytics Facility for National Infrastructure (DAFNI) and looked at the barriers to data sharing in Energy, Transport and Water specifically. The EDC contributed to the final report and also led on three activities:

  1. Workshop on Data Sharing for Energy Modelling This took place in October 2024 and considered the factors involved in sharing and reusing data in energy models. The report is available from EDC.
  2. Reviewing the energy semantic artefact landscape The report considers the importance of adding semantic meaning to repository records, reviews what semantic artefacts are discoverable, considers the practical application over the long-term. The report is available from EDC.
  3. Developing a specification for a FAIR enabled API for the Energy Data Centre The report considers what is required to demonstrate that the API and Data are FAIR and the repository is trustworthy and how that might be machine readable. The report is available from EDC.

The EDC will be taking forward some of the recommendations of the DINI work as part of our continuous development programme. Specifically the work on the FAIR-enabled API and how we might adapt the semantic artefacts in use to address known issues with the current implementation.

This project was funded through the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology in the Research Data Cloud Programme.
