Objectives
Abstract The proposal is for Electromagnetic Stress Measurement Equipment to enhance existing facilities so that studies of direct measurement of the Stress Concentration Factor at a weld toe can be made. No other research institution has this equipment, several key elements of which will be specified by the Principal Investigator. Without these funds only measurement and monitoring nominal (or remote) stresses can be studied; whereas this is itself a progressive activity (incremental) the use of a non contacting technique to directly measure Stress Concentration Factor is a novel and radical idea that if successful would certainly lead to a new area of research
