Objectives | ANGLE-DC aims to demonstrate a novel network reinforcement technique by converting an existing 33kV AC circuit to DC operation. The technique can be used by DNOs as an efficient solution to create network capacity headroom and facilitate GBs objective for the shift towards a low carbon economy.
Abstract | The existing distribution network is increasingly strained due to growing demand and a high penetration of distributed generation. The conventional AC network has limited controllability and flexibility, two fundamental attributes required as the network evolves and becomes increasingly complex.
