Objectives | The project objective is that a supplier of hydrogen is able to apply to inject hydrogen into a GDNs network, just as biomethane producers can today. This enables hydrogen to deliver cost-effective and non-disruptive carbon savings to the customer.
Abstract | The project builds on the foundational work at Keele University to demonstrate on public distribution networks that natural gas containing levels of hydrogen beyond those in GS(M)R can be distributed and utilised safely. Successful demonstration has the potential to facilitate 29TWh pa of decarbonised heat nationally, and more by unlocking extensive hydrogen use.
