CARMA is a database containing information about the carbon emissions of over 60,000 power plants and 20,000 power companies worldwide. Power generation accounts for 40% of all CO₂ emissions in the United States and about one-quarter of global emissions. CARMA is the first global inventory of a major, emissions-producing sector of the economy. It cased being updated in 2012 but is available for downloading from the link. CARMA is produced and financed by the Center for Global Development, an independent and non-partisan think tank located in Washington, DC.The objective of CARMA.org is to equip individuals with the information they need to forge a cleaner, low-carbon future. By providing complete information for both clean and dirty power producers, CARMA hopes to influence the opinions and decisions of consumers, investors, shareholders, managers, workers, activists, and policymakers. CARMA builds on experience with public information disclosure techniques that have proven successful in reducing traditional pollutants.For power plants within the U.S., CARMA relies upon data reported to the Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy by the plant operators themselves. CARMA also includes official reported emissions for many plants in the European Union, Canada, India, and South Africa and annual generation for all of the worlds nuclear power plants, as reported by the International Atomic Energy Agency. For non-reporting plants, CARMA estimates electricity generation and CO2 emissions using statistical models that have been fitted to detailed U.S. plant data and unit-level engineering and fuel specifications. CARMA v3.0 reports emissions for the year 2004, 2009, and the future (based on planned construction and retirements).
CARMA also aggregates data on individual plants to the level of companies and several geographic entities (continents, countries, states/provinces, and cities worldwide, with additional reports for U.S. metro areas, congressional districts, and counties). CARMA is meant to be a repository of the best available information on power sector carbon emissions. Our policy is to correct any errors or omissions if suggested revisions are verified by an independent third party.

The DOE Global Energy Storage Database provides free, up-to-date information on grid-connected energy storage projects around the world and relevant state and federal policies. There is a searchable database on projects and policies, with drill-down capability. In the Projects section, it is possible to drill-down to individual plants, detailing technology (e.g. Vanadium Redox Flow Battery), power, duration and status. This data can be downloaded and used freely subject to conditions of use. Data visualization is also available.

The mission of the US Department of Energy Hydrogen and Fuel Cells Program is to reduce petroleum use, greenhouse gas emissions, and air pollution and to contribute to a more diverse and efficient energy infrastructure by enabling the widespread commercialization of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies. The Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program (GHGRP) collects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) data from large emitting facilities, suppliers of fossil fuels and industrial gases that result in GHG emissions when used, and facilities that inject carbon dioxide underground. Datasets available include high level summaries (maps, charts etc), an interactive tool for facility-level access, multi-year data summary spreadsheets and searchable, downloadable facility-level datasets by 32 industry types. The data is not confined to CO₂ There are other datasets available on the site from the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program (GHGRP) and the U.S. Inventory of Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Sinks. The Inventory goes back to 1990, but is not mappable to location as it works on aggregate national figures. The GHGRP is a more recent program, developed in response to Congressional mandate from 2008, so there are fewer years of data available. It works on reports from facilities, so can be mapped by location. Annual GHG data for covered facilities in 29 industry types is available starting in 2010. Researchers at the Met Office Hadley Centre produce and maintain a range of gridded datasets of meteorological variables for use in climate monitoring and climate research. Including datasets that started in the 1830s onwards. This site provides access to these datasets or, in some cases, links to other places from where where they can be obtained. Each data set is provided under specific license terms please check the terms and conditions for each data set before you use it. <p>Please note that this is not an operational service. This site is run by research staff with the primary aim of improving collaboration with fellow researchers. The Power Reactor Information System (PRIS), developed and maintained by the IAEA for over five decades, is a comprehensive database focusing on nuclear power plants worldwide. PRIS contains information on power reactors in operation, under construction, or those being decommissioned. PRIS is available to both the general public and registered users, with registered users able to input their own data and access a statistics reporting tool. Renewables.ninja allows users to run simulations of the hourly power output from wind and solar power plants located anywhere in the world. Data has been derived from NASAs MERRA-2 re-analysis data and CM-SAFs SARAH satellite data.

The Wind Power is a set of databases covering wind farms, turbines, manufacturers, developers, operators and owners worldwide, with market information. Downloads are available for each database, plus photographs and maps, and analysis of the wind power market. There is an interactive map.

The UK Data Service provides a single point of access to a wide range of social science secondary data, including international macrodata, and UK Census data. along with supporting documentation, guides and specialist support. The Economic and Social Data Service (ESDS) is now part of the UK Data Service, along with the former Secure Data Service, Survey Question Bank and elements of the ESRC Census Programme. The catalogue can be explored using the Discover tool. There is also a variable and question bank. Much of the data is open access, but registration is required for controlled and safeguarded data, and there is a charge for commercial use. Keyword searches in Discover can be refined by a wide range of facets such as case studies, series, ESRC outputs, Subject, data, spatial unit and so on.

UK Data Service (UKDS) data ranging from household energy use to global databanks on greenhouse gas emissions, conservation and the production and consumption of oil, gas and electricity worldwide. This page highlights some key UKDS data sets on the theme of energy and environment.

The NAEI compiles estimates of emissions to the atmosphere from UK sources such as cars, trucks, power stations and industrial plant. The NAEI estimates annual pollutant emissions from 1970 to the most current publication year for the majority of pollutants. A number of pollutants are estimated from 1990 or 2000 to the most current publication year due to the lack of adequate data prior to the later date and the specific reporting requirements for each pollutant. To deliver these estimates, the NAEI team collect and analyse information from a wide range of sources from national energy statistics through to data collected from individual industrial plants.

One of the largest databases in the world on the production and trade of minerals, provided by the British Geological Survey (BGS). The data is published each year in three annual publications: World Mineral Production, European Mineral Statistics, UK Minerals Yearbook.The database compilers aim for integrity and accuracy and, for quality control of data, participate in international specialist groups and maintain close links with other mineral statistics providers in Europe and North America.

FAO develops methods and standards for food and agriculture statistics, provides technical assistance services and disseminates data for global monitoring covering emissions, agriculture, forestry and fisheries, land and water resources and use, climate, environment, population, gender, nutrition, poverty, rural development, education and health as well as many others. FAO food and agriculture statistics disseminate statistics through their dissemination platforms (FAOSTAT and RuLIS) and produce publications, working papers and statistical yearbooks that cover food security and nutrition, crop and livestock, economic, social and environmental statistics.

NREL geospatial data sets and tools for biomass, geothermal, hydrogen, marine, solar, wind and cross-cutting energy research. NREL is a national laboratory of the U.S. Department of Energy.

UNSD maintains the Energy Statistics Database, which provides annual statistics on production, trade, transformation and consumption (end-use) for solid, liquid, and gaseous fuels, electricity, and heat. It contains basic statistics for more than 230 countries/territories from 1950 year onwards and is updated annually. The database contains data in their original units (e.g. metric tonnes, GWh) as well as calorific values to allow interfuel comparison in a common energy unit (terajoules).

These files are the core subset of the updated and expanded versions of the data originally collated for the UKERC "Costs and Impacts of Intermittency - 2016 update" project, see https://ukerc.ac.uk/project/the-intermittency-report/. This dataset includes the references, costs and impacts from this systematic review of the evidence on the costs and impacts of intermittent electricity generation technologies.
